On checking out, the hotel initially tried to charge a higher rate than that secured by the Late Rooms booking - even though they had a copy of my booking form. I had to get them to reduce the rate but was unimpressed by this incident.

Ignore all previous bad reviews. The hotel is being refurbished and the quality of the room we were in was excellent. Clean, comfortable and luxurious. Staff went out of their way to be helpful.
Did not eat dinner but breakfast was great. Waiter was I think Spanish and his english was eccentric but amusing. good array of cereals, fruit jucies and pastries plus good choice of cooked breakfast.
There is still work going on in the hotel but this did not detract and the overall feeling was that the staff took pride in the place.

I would recommed staying at Audleys Wood. The setting is gorgeous, and the hotel offers some good value packages. However, there is a big let down with the restaurant staff. Service there is very poor, with up to 45 minutes wait for a dessert and many orders mistakenly taken. It is a shame as apart from this (and the high price of wine!) the hotel is very nice
