Hotel used to be fantastic. Now it is in decline. Bedroom was the worst I have stayed in for years. Window didnt shut, no heating, chairs were stained and wardrobe was only fit for fire. Im not putting any more as I want to forget it. Other rooms might have been better. |

The hotel itself is a lovely building from the outside but the rooms inside are very out of date with wallpaper peeling, enamel off the bath and very dated furniture. For a 4 star hotel (which I couldn't believe) I would expect to have at least a fridge in the room or mini bar but there was nothing not even a water/ice machine in any of the floors. Oh and our tv didn't work. Worst of all though was the service from the staff. Not even remotley friendly and not helpful at all. One of my party asked one of the breakfast staff if he could bring more plates as they had ran out and he just looked at her without saying a word then walked off. Fair enough he did come back with plates but said absolutley nothing. Not good manners. There was also a mix up with some of my parties rooms when we arrived and they weren't very fast to help either. The only good thing I can say about this hotel is the gym and facilities are good even though they are separate from the hotel which we all thought was very strange. I wouldn't recommend any of my friends to stay at this hotel. I think this hotel rides on it's reputation from years gone by not by service they provide today. |

We made use of the facilities in the Triangle health club and were impressed with these. Customer service from the bar / waiting staff could have been better (no one around to take order at bar for ages). In the evening we planned to enjoy some quiet time watching a movie with room service however when I tried to call through to reception to report problems with the pay per view system the phone went unanswered from the room phone, my mobile and by dialing 9 for an outside line from my room. We eventually spoke to room service who promised to arrange a call from reception. Our food arrived (very good ceasar salad :-) ) and again we mentioned the pay per view issue, again we were promised a call back. Reception did call our room around 10 minutes later and when I explained that I had been trying to call for almost an hour - I was told that the reception had been busy and that she (I never got her name) was only able to "so many things at once". I reported the probelm with the TV and a duty manager arrived within 10 minutes. He unfortunately was unable to resolve the problem saying it may be something to do with the system - and then left. One other point and I know ths sounds trivial but it would have made a difference. The chips in the bar was chunky and my wife preffers the skinny ones. When we ordered from room service we ordered the french fries, assuming they were different from chips - only to find on delivery that they were the same size. |

hotel was very good and room was recently decorated and very nice. Dissapointed that the evening meal was in fact a buffet and not a menu to choose from, but other than this it was all fine. |

Very easy hotel to find, plus ample parking. Food of a very high standard. Staff very friendly and helpful. Only negative was that room was difficult to find initially and was INCREDIBLY warm - at any time of day or night with window open and fan blowing!! |
