The Queens Head is an historic 17th Century Coaching Inn, situated in the Troutbeck Valley, just 3 miles from Windermere. Throughout the inn are solid oak beams, stone flag floors and heartwarming log fires by which you can enjoy a deserved drink, ordered from the bar which was once an Elizabethan four-poster bed from a room in Appleby Castle. Hotel guests home comforts are very much of this century. The bedrooms are all non-smoking and are tastefully furnished with en-suite bathrooms, colour televison and tea and coffee making facilities.

staff were friendly and efficient,four poster room was fantasticand spotless,exellent place to stay.fillet steak was superb,local produce always used,a little bit pricey for food some might think but you pay for quality.wide selection of drinks available.have stayed in marriott and devere hotels before....for setting,service and quality i would stay here every time.make sure you book a table for fri or sat stays....gets busy.......breakfast magic also-big full english

This hotel provided a perfect base for visiting the Lakes, many of which were only a short drive away. Our bedroom, in the annex, was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The food was excellent and the staff were very efficient, friendly and attentive - we were very impressed with the standard of service we experienced.

We had a fabulous time. The staff were so friendly...they couldn't do enough for you (although not too in your face, if you get what I mean). I have recommended thidshotel to a friend who is going for 5 nights (we only stayed 2 nights) so I am really jealous. We can't wait to go back again. Really cosy and quirky :-)
