BEST WESTERN HOTEL de MADRID

Although it's right bang in the centre of Nice, this is a fairly characterless hotel. The Laterooms discount meant it was good value to stay at for me but it wouldn't have been if I was paying top dollar, er, euro. I had a single room which wouldn't even have accommodated the cat if I'd wanted to swing one, but having just come from a "hotel" in San Remo which was appalling and was like something out of the film "Hostel", I was so grateful to stay at a clean, well presented place.

his hotel was very bad indeed and most misleading from the photos on the internet. It was in a part of town that was not pleasant at all and if you had been a women on your own you would feel very intimidated to say the least. Rooms were very grubby and the bathroom/shower were the size of a wadrobe. The hotel had no aircon and therfore you had to have the window open and the niose of the street sounded like people were fighting babies crying all night. All in all a very bad experience.

close to railway station which is what we wanted, very noisy outside at night, the room we had was very small, bathroom tiny as was the wc. the service and help we had from the front desk was excellent.

Hotel was 2mins walk from the train station so easy to get to Cannes or Monaco or the airport. Clean modern hotel, nice reception area and grand staircase leading up to the bedrooms. We changed room as our tv only played 1 channel so we got to look at 2 rooms and they were both spacious clean and modern. The hotel is situated right by some bars/restaurants so you can get breakfast/lunch/evening meal easily and resonably priced (15Euro for 4 course meal/6Euro for breakfast). Ideal location for shops as the main street is the next block along from the hotel. It took about 15mins to walk to the beach and to the 'Old town' I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel was disappointing. Booked a superior room and actually checked with reception to see if had got correct room, was cramped, looked old and tired, bathroom was tiny, similar to that on a cross channel ferry and when we arrived we had no towels, no toiletries and the lights were not working properly. Satellite television didnt work properly and when asked to use internet facilities in reception that wasnt working either! Pictures of hotel on website misleading, looks like boutique hotel on website but very small and rooms dark, dingy, old and cramped.
