Astoria Hotel Prague

Excelllent hotel in the centre of the old town, walking distance to everywhere. Beware rogue taxi drivers!

The hotel was in an excellent position for visiting all main attractions in Prague.
I have already recommended the hotel to a friend who is looking for accommodation next year.

There is a connection between the hotel and a local taxi firm which seems to make the fares more expensive. I would recomend sorting out taxis independently.

Hotel is ideal for Old town square, tourist attractions,shopping, public transport and eating and drinking places. Breakfast was hot and cold food which were all edible but the self service could be improved by a more organised layout of the buffet.
Do not expect smiles ,welcoming hello or much eye contact from the czech staff especially from a middle aged male reception person . He booked us in at 22-00 hrs on 12th nov. in a strict manner of do this, sign here and we will do what we think fit with you!! The rest of the staff were fine if we spoke to them. Although we were happy to leave a credit card print out for a deposit on checking in -we were shocked they debited the 12,000 korunas then insisted they would refund that on completion of stay after I pay the bill.Past experience has been they take all details but do not debit the credit till after the stay.
The cleaners were the most human with smiles and did a good job - they were tipped handsomely afterwards.
