Impressed with new rooms, clean and modern and much better than old rooms.

Breakfast was unconditionally awful. Full breakfast consisted of a selection of five items from a list. My five items consisted of 1 rasher of dried up bacon, 1 dried up fried egg, 1 dried up slice of black pudding, a few objects that purported to be mushrooms (deep fried and oozing oil) and 1 hash brown - the only reasonably edible item. My wife opted for poached eggs, which she describes as overcooked and inedible. Apart from that there were no glasses for fruit juice, no spoons for cereal and no teaspoons. The coffee, (a pot was served) was apparently made from poor quality instant coffee rather than freshly brewed. The toast was burnt. We have no experience of dinner as we decided not to chance it and dined elsewhere.
The room, a 'double' was almost too small for a 'single', had nowhere to put a suitcase, clothes storage was a hanging rail with only 4 hangers provided, and although there were two chairs, there was no room to sit, and they simply got in the way. The shower compartment was far too small even for a person of average build. and the shower head had been held in place by sellotape, which had long since ceased to stick, resulting in it being all but useless. The shower tray seemed in constant danger of overflowing, despite a pump system.
In addition, there seemed to be no residents lounge, and the only seating area was a bar with a TV at either end constantly showing Sky Sport.
Overall I would consider £85 per night to be extortionate, and a refund of at least some of this would be appreciated.

After a couple of bad experiences of hotels through this website it was a pleasant surprise to stay in such a clean friendly hotel. The staff couldn't do enough for you and were very friendly and polite. The food was excellent and good value for money. Next time i'm in the are on business I definately wont need to think twice about where to stay.
