A lovely hotel spoilt only by the attitude of the reception/managing staff. We booked a free upgrade to seaview room with Laterooms. The reception claimed to know nothing about this offer and kept us waiting one and a half hours while they contacted Laterooms by email and then, at our insistence, by phone. After this time the matter was still unresolved and when we said we would leave, we were shown to a seaview room which the management staff continued to insist we were not entitled to. We complained to them that this was no way to treat their guests but they continued to argue with us. Even on checking out the next day we did not receive any explanation or apology. We were absolutely amazed to be treated in this way by a 5 star hotel when they clearly had plenty of rooms available and they admitted that the problem was between them and laterooms and not with us. |

This was my second visit to the Elysium, this time with my mum for a relaxing week. The hotel is extremely well maintained with beautiful pool and garden areas. The staff are without exception friendly and very helpful, from the housekeeping staff to the pool waiters. Strongly recommend the E'Spa spa - you can take advantage of the free facilities like the sauna and steamroom, and the hot stones massage is a must - perfect way to relax and quickly get into the holiday frame of mind. We were on B&B basis and ate out most nights, although we did eat in the brasserie one evening where the food and service was excellent. The buffet style breakfast is superb and means you rarely need to eat lunch! There were lots of weddings - at least one a day - but these were unobtrusive. For a wedding though, I think it could feel like a bit of a coveyor belt and not particularly personal. Standard rooms are fairly small and not as luxurious as some 5* hotels, but had the main facilities you would expect (air con, clean towels 2 x per day etc). There were a lot of couples, some with babies and young children but I am not sure this would be the best hotel for a family with school or teenage kids. Overall, would definitely recommend the Elysium if you are looking for a relaxing break in the sun and want a high standard hotel with excellent service. |
