Mandolay Hotel

Nice bar downstairs, helpful staff. Older hotel, small tight staircases t some rooms. My room was quite small and the en suite was tiny. But clean and suitable for a quick overnight.

Have stayed here a few years before. Big improvement since being redecorated. However, the room might have been good but the shower / WC room had seen only the slightest lick of paint and let the room down even though it was clean.
Reception was very busy (not their fault), they dealt with my check-in as quickly as they could and still maintained a smile.

Hotel service and friendliness was excellent.
Location is 2 min walk from the center, and parking was available.
The only let down was the room, which was very small, and is the only reason why I would not want to stay.

Food was too expensive. Room ok but very very tiny - felt very chlostrophobic & shower head broken.

What i liked about this hotel is that it feels more like a hotel than, say, the travel lodge (and for not much more money). Room was very small though, an dthe bed, though clean, wasn't comfortable for me. I ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was lovely - I would recommend the asparagus and goats cheese salad! I would stay again if I was in Guildford on business, but I'd request a bigger room - I could just about move around the bed!
