The Red Lion Inn is a traditional Inn located outside the village of Todwick close to Sherwood Forest. Originally a farm, the pub dates back to 1838 and for many years was known as Mary Ellen's after a landlady who was renowned for her hospitality. The pub has retained much of its old character having oak beams, flagstone flooring and real fires lit in winter. Excellent food is served from an extensive menu and can be eaten in the restaurant, elsewhere in the pub or on the patio. Top class accommodation was built in the early 1980s and had a major refurbishment in 2003. The Red Lion is an ideal venue for functions such as weddings and we also have two further rooms for business meetings.

Reception not maned on arrival, had to wait for a time before we were seen but this was the only negative part of the visit.

Booked this last minute, not in Sheffield but very good deal on price £50 for double bed and breakfast which would have been £85 if I'd booked direct. Great service from the hotel (pub) before we even arrived as had a phone call to ask whether i wanted to book a table for dinner (saturday night's busy and not a lot else nearby). It was easy to find and had plenty of parking. The room was lovely with all the usual perks and a fantastic shower. Breakfast was great, large variety and large full english (which we both had). Not sure whether I'd have the need to stay here again but certainly would do and use both late rooms and the same pub chain again.

Friendly staff. Good food. Room OK, but could have been a little cleaner (cobwebs in bathroom).
