I was so dissapoimnted with this hotel. from the website it looked good, but in realoity they had squeezed as many rooms as phsyically possible into the building. I had to change rooms becasue the frist room, had paint peeling and the smell of smoke in this apparently non smoking room was awful. The second room was nearly as bad and still smelt of smoke but something else as bad. Two other colleagues also had the same porblme with their rooms. The reception satff were not particularly helpful to try and sort the problem out. The bathroom had not been cleaned properly, and was old and tired, the bedroom furniture did not match, and was so small and claustrophobic. The breakfast was fairly good although the staff again were not particualrly plesant or helpful.

Hotel smells badly. You did not advertise the fact that the Hotel had been sold to Travel Lodge and was closing the weekend of our stay. Staff were drinking on duty in the bar. All pool, gym, and sauna were not in use. Took over an hour to get into room all keys for rooms not working. Many complaints from other visitors. NOT SATISFIED AT ALL.

What people who review and stay at this hotel need to realise is that you get what you pay for. Granted, some areas of the hotel are in need of decoration but they are only a bit dated; they are not dirty or unpleasant. This goes for the room we stayed too. Yes, dated. Yes, a bit old fashioned. But, clean as a whistle with a comfy bed, good refreshments tray and great powershower. Isn't that what we all want when we stay at a hotel?
This place is also in a FANTASTIC location...right on the edge of the promenade near the sea and literally one minutes walk from town.
The staff were also excellent and the lady on reception when we arrived was great so no complaints there. I genuinely feel that, had we had any problems, then they would have been sorted. People who leave reviews on here basically being rude and insulting to the staff and the hotel should understand that these people are doing a tough job which is made harder by folk moaning at them for things they can do nothing about. If someone complains the the decorations are a bit dated; what do you want them to do? Get their paintbrush out there and then.
We only stayed for breakfast on both mornings so cannot comment on dinner. However, breakfast was excellent and an outstanding variety; something for everyone. Good attention to detail, good waiting staff and you can tell there is a level of pride they all have by the way everything is presented and organised.
Look, this hotel ain't perfect but which one is. We paid £130 for 2 nights and for that price, I believe we received value for money. If you want champagne and chocolates in your room and breakfast in bed...then go elsewhere and pay for it. Who spends their whole holiday in their hotel room listing defects anyway...?
