This hotel not only wants a face lift from top to bottom but it really does need a good clean.
Even the lift was dirty.

I was disappionted to be located in a tiny room overlooking the kitchens which were a little noisy. Also disappointed in the outdated leisure facilities - minute pool which needs money spent on it. This was a nostalgia trip for me as family holidays were spent here as a child. Unfortunately not much has changed in 30 years or so! However, the price was right & buffet breakfast was included so in all, fair value.

Fantastic location opposite the sea and only a ten minute walk into the town centre. Obtained very reasonable rates via Laterooms for this grand hotel so it was value for money. Did not have dinner in the hotel but breakfast was good (along with the service) - the dining room over looks the sea with very large windows so was really enjoyable. Would stay here again but only at a reasonable price.

We builders starting work at 8ish each morning, just a few doors away, on the same floor. Besides the noise and unwelcome sight, there was a corridor full of brick dust in the air. The food was poor and the portions were minute (nuveau quisine) £30 per head. The top half of my dining chair was splintered and broken. The swimming pool water was a murky white, and the Jacuzzi had a scumlike film on the surface. The snooker room was in disrepair, dark and dank, with the paint/paper peeling off the walls.
They offer a packed lunch but fail to materialise and the manager was ellusive. Lastly, we had to evaquate the hotel at 7am due to fire alrm going off. A pleasant stay? I think not.

Sadly, this was the worst sort of Laterooms deal, a single person in a large old-fashioned hotel; although the hotel must have one of the best views in Britain, because it was cut-price deal for a singleton, I was given a very small room overlooking the carpark and the kitchens ventilation sytem, which ran noisly all night. The food was adequate, although it was obvious that the skate wing had been under the warming lamp for too long as the top had dried to a crisp while the bottom was soggy. And in a hotel this size, the buffet breakfast system does not work as the cooked food simply dries out, even a half hour after opening. I hate to think what state the bacon and sausages would have been in two hours later.
