    The owners speak fluent English, being Dutch. The building was a romantic historic castle. Our room was an upgrade and was large and beautifully decorated. The restaurant was simply superb. It was only open on the last night of our stay but Challens had a variety of restaurants that we were recommended to. Our 18-month-old Labrador retriever loved roaming around the expensive woods and we found a local English speaking Vet to complete her passport stamps before driving up to the ferry.

    A very interesting history to the chateau - an impressive building. The Dutch owners were very friendly and helpful. Suggested a very good restaurant because the chef was on holiday. Relaxing to speak fluent English for a change!!!
