The hotel lies in a superb position for accessing many of Madrid's tourist spots, most notably the Gran Via and Plaza Mayor. We didn't have to walk far before we were in the 'old town' with it's many tapas restaurants and bars, and of course the Plaza Mayor, which seems to be the area where all the action is in the evening. Our room was a standard double room which was modern and clean. It had wooden flooring, an LCD Televsion, a nice bright bathroom and a mini-bar. Noise from other parts of the hotel does seem to travel quite easily, I wouldn't say that the hotels rooms are very sound-proof at all. Also, our room was overlooked from back by a residential apartment, which woulnd't normally be a problem, except that the blind covering our window was semi see-through! The hotel staff were very friendly, giving us advice on the best places to visit, they also spoke very good English. The hotel reception is very nice and inviting, with modern lounge areas and free internet, although the computer had disappeared when I came to use it on the second day. Hotel Meninas is a very good hotel, an excellent alternative to the big, old fashioned hotels which seem to dominate tourist hotspots and which are seen as 'reliable' by visitors unfamiliar by the surrounding area. Even my partner, who is a fan of the reliability you get from these big hotels, commented that she would love to stay at Hotel Meninas again. |
