Went to a friends wedding, was upgraded on arrival. Room was like a flat!! Comfy bed, but windows didn't open very far so was quite hot. Food was lovely. Would recommend anyone to have a wedding at this gorgeous venue. |

The hotel is in a delightful setting. All staff were extremely couteous and helpful. Will definitely return to enjoy all that the hotel and grounds have to offer. The location was ideal; being close to the A1 without the noise of a busy road. |

The hotel and grounds are absolutely fabulous...the only problem is that the hotel needs an update to the hotel rooms (the castle itself is still wonderful) Also the food used to be Michelin star level, and is sadly no longer. |

Very disappointed made booking after reading reviews especially took on board the views. The view from our room overlooked a farm steading with round wrapped blue bales. The forklift started at 7 am and just kept the engine running. Thinking we had booked late - only that morning - thought perhaps this was the only vacant room but 2 hours after arriving there was a big notice on reception and also in the dining area offering B&B for £95 - £45 cheaper than we had paid. Very bad business especially as presumably they would get a better room than us. Had to move light bulbs as the bed side lamp needed a new bulb and the TV did not work either. The steak my husband had was in his words one of the worse he has had and he has had a lot. All in all our stay was not a success which was such a shame as potentially it is a lovely place. Thought we may have had a bit better service as did mention it was our 40th Wedding Anniversary. Will write to the hotel and would expect some kind of refund. |
