The Greenway is a fine example of a beautiful Elizabethan manor house nestling in the golden glow of the glorious Cotswold Hills. Perhaps the finest country house hotel near Cheltenham, it has retained its historic features and charming character and takes its name from the pre-Roman path which runs beside the building which dates from its construction in 1584. Set in gardens of national renown, The Greenway is so convenient for both Cheltenham and the Cotswolds, as well as being less than 10 minutes drive from the M5. Furnished with fresh flowers and antique furniture, our hall, restaurant and public rooms offer our guests a combination of sophisticated elegance and rural informality. Our twenty-one bedrooms are individually furnished to very high standards, many boasting high quality original antique furniture and all boasting stylish en-suite bathrooms.

Very disappointed - quality of service was terrible. One morning I waited in the dining room for 20 minutes without being served...despite being the only guest present. Coffee was very weak too. Didn't eat in the evening due to the excessive cost of the food - £48 for 3 courses or £38 for a main. This is ridiculous considering other hotels of similar quality locally.

I have stayed at the Greenways for many years. I was sad to see that the room furnishings no handles on draws, backs of chairs broken. no pull on wardrobe door, arm hanging off chandelier in the dining room. all gave the place an uncared for and very tatty feel.

My son and I arrived on a cold wet afternoon, and were met by a friendly smile. The hotel is really beautiful and full of interesting pieces of furniture, and ornaments. Although this is not billed as a family hotel, the chef provided an innovative and attractive meal for my 4 year old son, which he loved. The staff were very helpful, and accommodating, and the personal touch of a teddy on the bed for my son made settling him very easy.

All in all, 'just OK'. But- when you're paying this kind of money, you would at least expect tea and coffee in the room. Even Travelodges have this. It may seem 'upmarket' to offer a wide range of beverages and charge for them, but I call it penny-pinching. Also, why do hotels like this continue to have 1980s style portable TVs in the rooms in these days of plasma and widescreens? My room was very bland and the bath was as narrow as a coffin. Must try harder, Greenway. It could be really great.
