Slightly on the functional side as you would expect from university accommodation, but it's not bad value, given the location, and the breakfast was great! |

When we arrived they had given us a room with one twin bed instead of what I had asked for, a double twin with 2 beds which we neededl They graciously re-accomodated us into a suite with two twin beds, a living room & kitchen....the room review question above reflects this upgraded room. Breakfast looked lovely, but we needed leave early so we just took something we could carry out with us. The staff was friendly and helpful when we arrived. I was traveling with my granddaughter, so the questions below were not possible to answer correctly, given the wording! |

The rooms and ensuite were huge. The view was lovely - over the square's garden. There was a bit of early morning rowdiness, but this wasn't too disruptive. The walls are a little thin and my friend was disturbed by some late night discussions going on next door. |

This is not really a hotel, but a part of the Oxford Continuing Education Department. They provide rooms for short term conference visitors, etc. Having said that, the facility is in a wonderful centrally-located spot, the rooms are spartan but clean and comfortable. There were few/no other facilities available at that price, location and duration of stay and I was uncertain about the quality until we checked in. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Typical English breakfast buffet - didn't try their other meal offerings. Downside was the lack of elevators and that our room was down one flight and up three flights - aerobic to say the least, but the desk clerk at check-in was kind enough to bring up our bags - not part of the usual service, I gathered. I would recommend it highly if you want to spend time exploring Oxford - it is just 3 - 4 blocks from the bus station, from the University buildings, etc. Oxford is expensive, as is England in general, so I didn't feel that this was too much to pay. |
