Hotel H10 Raco del Pi

Very helpful staff, lovely glass of cava on arrival. Nice rooms, though a little warm and we got a double room when we had requested a twin. Breakfast was very good value at 10 euros but drinks at the bar are incredibly expensive - 14 euros for 2 G & T's, though they were very stong! They had no white wine but were happy to let us bring our own in and provided us with a corkscrew. Would recommend this hotel. Very well located.

The best thing and the greatest selling point for this hotel was its location - it is IDEAL. It is just off La Rambla and very near the Cathedral and Old Town, so perfect as a base for sightseeing. I think the hotel uses this to its maximum advantage, for in every other way it is a very standard 3 star hotel by European standards.
Please be warned that if you book a single room it is ABSOLUTELY TINY! It is literally about 6ftx6ft, just big enough to get a single bed in widthways or lengthways. I was absolutely shocked when I saw it (and at the price I paid - about £85 a night! Hence the poor value for money rating). I asked for an upgrade, even using my birthday as an excuse (it's true, though, it was my birthday)! But the hotel staff said no, the hotel was fully booked. The most one front desk attendant could do to compensate was give me a free breakfast for the one day (it would have been 10 euros as a first day promotion offer from the normal price of 15 euros)! So maybe I was expecting too much with an upgrade, but the customer service was not as obliging and attentive as it is in the US, for example.
The room was clean enough (there wasn't much to clean, one sweep of the broom would have taken care of it) and the hotel decor is fine. The breakfast was fine, the standard buffet fare - continental, cooked breakfast (which looked awful towards the end of breakfast time, congealed etc) with the bonus of fresh fruit and fresh fruit salad as well. The kitchen staff were nice and helpful.
I would not stay in the single room again but cannot say about the double room - this was too expensive for me, but I would recommend the location of the hotel to a friend and also that they opt for the double room if they have to stay at the Raco del Pi.

The hotel was fairly easy to find off the main street of Las Ramblas about 5 mins from the nearest metro station Licieu. We had a lovely welcome with a glass of Cava and the staff were extremely helpful with all our queries on what to do with regard to our onward journey and directions. The room was clean and modern. Coffee, refreshments and pastries are served free of charge after 1pm each day which was also nice. This was a lovely hotel i would reccommend, worth the money.
