Lancaster Lodge

Staff were friendly and helpful. The guesthouse is clean and comfortable. Rooms were large and comfortable. Having easy internet access was a real bonus. Breakfast was generous and varied. The location - close to the city centre - is ideal for shopping or visiting places of interest in Cork. We enjoyed our stay and would return to the Lancaster Lodge.

Really nice guest house

This was the fourth time we have stayed at Lancaster Lodge, and although I prefer a 'traditional' kind of holel (old fashioned architecture and preferably stuffed with antiques!) this hotel is spot on for service and friendliness. This time I forgot my mobile phone charger and they not only found me one to use, but allowed me to take it away on our outward journey and return it when passing through Cork 2 weeks later!
A big consideration if you are taking a car into Cork is that the hotel is just a few minutes from St Patricks Street and the bright lights, and you can leave your car with peace of mind in the hotel car park and walk everwhere. Not many hotels in the city have their own car parking, (we know, we've checked them all!), you may have to leave your car in a public car park which might not be that close. The Lancaster's car park is covered by CCTV and is able to accommodate larger vehicles - we often take our Transporter which is too high to fit under the barrier in other car parks.
Breakfasts are very good, with a huge choice of cereals and fruit, croissants, juices etc. on a help yourself buffet and good scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. Oh, and the showers are pretty much the best we have come across.


We are always made to feel very welcome

We found the Hotel easy to get to, just a five minute walk from the main shopping street and bus stop for the Cork City tour. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the food excellent. We really enjoyed our stay and the only disappointment was that it wasn't for longer than the two nights.
