Hotel Montholon

First and subsequent impressions of this hotel were disappointing. Room very small, room lamp found broken from time of initial entry and not removed/replaced by hotel staff when brought to their attention for the duration of our stay. Bed very uncomfortable.

We had booked 3 rooms at this hotel. 2 were fine but the third was filthy. The rooms are quite basic but for the price it was not a bad deal.
The breakfast isn't worth getting out of bed for.
Staff were friendly.

Although the hotel is located close to Gare de Nord station this is the only redeeming feature. The room and bathroom was filthy with a constant smell of cheap perfume. The only escape was to open the window, which, because of the frontage to Rue Lafeyette, made it very noisy throughout the night. The curtains didnt close properly resulting in a sleepless night. The lift ran virtually through the tiny bathroom and I could hear people talking through the paper thin lift wall. This is supposed to be 3 star hotel but to be honest, I wouldnt keep my dog here. The staff were also 3rd rate and this place deserves to be condemned.

The hotel was very clean but was not up to the standard of a three star accomodation. Rooms in urgent need of an update plugs hanging off wall on very noisy road. The hotel was easy to get to from cadet metro station. Found it hard to communicate with staff and receptionist tried to make us get cash out of a cash machine at 10.30pm at night to pay our hotel bill on the first night as her credit card machine would not work. The next morning the credit card machine had made a speedy recovery. This hotel is ok if you are on a very tight budget but is quite away from most of the major sites. If you can afford to splash out a few more euros stay nearer the major sites.
Nice cafe over the road for snacks and drinks. I will be visiting Paris again but would not return to this hotel.

Breakfast was not included in the hotel bill and was very expensive we discovered after the fact. Cute hotel with easy access to the Metro but we had to ask for a larger room with enough beds. Breakfast not worth it. Bathroom was nasty.
