Castle Green Hotel

Hotel was generally good, although some elements of service weren't great. Waited at the bar for 5-10 minutes to get a drink before giving up and ordering from room service. It took 20 minutes for them to bring a burnt pizza and a drink. Breakfast was good though.
Massage in the health spa was very good, and the gym / pool staff were very helpful.

The hotel was really comfortable and clean. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the breakfasts but we were a bit put out at having to queue for it on the Saturday. Dinner at Alexander's was OK. Plenty on the plates but the Cumbrian pie was very salty.
We ate in the Lounge/Bar on one evening because we hadn't booked Alexander's and the restaurant menu didn't appeal to us. The food was disappointing. A ham salad consisted of a slice of ham,(which tasted awful) 4 cherry tomatoes and some rocket! Grossly overpriced at £6.95! We didn't complain at the time because we are not in the habit of causing a fuss, but now I wish we had. The atmosphere in the Lounge was really nice- gentle, relaxing, live, piano music.

For the money not worth it, should be priced the same as a travel lodge type hotel, stayed in a hotel 50 mile east of here the night before for the same price which was simply astounding in comparison.
Food on the Bar/Room service menu was pretty poor, would suggest that you eat in the restaurant or ajoining pub. Also High speed internet access only available via WIFI in rooms, unfortunately due to the nature of my job I am not permited to use wireless and had to make do with an 48k analogue connection in the room.
Staff are perfectly pleasant.
