Six Bells at Bardwell

The Green,Bardwell,Bury St. Edmunds,Suffolk, Bardwell, nr Bury St Edmunds

The Six Bells is the perfect country escape set on the edge of the village green in the pretty Suffok village of Bardwell. Totally surrounded by countryside it offers total quiet and tranquility, great food and a country escape. Originating in the late 1500's and enlarged by ourselves the inn now offers a characterful blend of old and new. Food is important at The Six Bells. We offer a daily changing menu prepared from fresh local produce. We have ten comfortable cottage style bedrooms set around the courtyard. They are all on the ground floor and have en-suite shower rooms, TVs, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities and lovely views over the East Anglain countryside. The four poster bedroom and the family bedrooms are non smoking rooms.

At £90.00/night it is not very good value. Compared to the last hotel i booked through you, the Riverside View Hotel, which was the same rate but was in a differnt class so i will not be staying at the Six Bells again. the Bedroom was smalll and the bathroom would only allow one person in at a time. not very good at all

Quite a difficult place to find, even our Sat Nav did not take us there correctly based on the post code given for the inn. Could not fault the quality of the food, however, the military style precision with which the evening dining was run did not invite a relaxed atmosphere. In addition we found that, although the inn was by no means dirty it appeared, in general, well worn exemplified by the unkempt appearance of the garden. The room was quite a decent size and had all the amenities expected theses days (TV, cofee & tea making) but according to my wife the floor was not cleaned for the 3 nights we stayed or the towels changed.
