Although I only had the pleasure of staying one night I would definitley return a beautiful hotel with stunning surroundings and steeped in history.staff were very efficient and friendly.Only problem I had was noise from the old pipes but that has to be expected in such an old building so can't really complain.would be a beqautiful setting for anyone getting married. |

Staff were generally very helpful and welcoming, apart from the day porter who showed us to our room. He didnt carry our case and stood to wait for a tip which was a little uncomfortable. However we didnt get back to our hotel late that night (gone midnight) and the night porter was very good. We ordered room service (sandwiches and chips) and it was very nice. The room was old fashioned but this was inkeeping with the castles atmosphere. The bed however was two single beds pushed together and made to look like a double/queen. The bathroom was of a good standard and very clean. We did request a wake up call for 8am which didn't happen but luckily we were awake anyway. Breakfast was very nice (i had a full English) however there was a bit of a wait due to "a technical hitch in the kitchen" according to the waitress. This was made a little easier by the view from our table of the peacocks in the grounds. Overall our stay was quite enjoyable but could definately have been improved. |

We were married here last year and were so very well looked after so we thought we'd go back for our aniversary. The staff are still completely wonderful and helpful. They say you can tell lots by the standard of gin and tonic and it was excellent. We splashed out on a dinner at the hotel which was superb and worth the money. Quiet, beautiful location with only minor room for improvement - breakfast was in a cold characterless room and was not brilliant however the chef was happy to rustle up scrambled eggs which were not on the menu. Much apprciated. Cupboards in rooms were formica and not in keeping with everywhere else which was lovely. Fire would have been nice in the evening but chimmney was 'waiting to be swept'...All in all we still love the place! Back next year! |
