The Hallam Hotel is a privately-run hotel. Great care is taken to ensure that your stay with us, whether on business or for pleasure, is a pleasant and enjoyable one. All our rooms have private en-suite facilities and are centrally heated with a lift serving all floors. Our other facilities include: remote control colour television, radio, hairdrier, direct dial telephone, complimentary tea & coffee facilities. A full English breakfast and VAT are also included in the tariff. There is always someone on duty at reception to take messages left for you, and to answer any enquiries you may have. A fax facility is also available to our guest at all times. We hope you enjoy your stay here at the Hallam Hotel.

I thought the hotel was fine as an economic place to stop overnight. It was quiet, the shower warmed up eventually. The desk staff were polite, the breakfast waiter was friendly.

I was attending a dinner and therefore needed a cheap but convenient hotel as I would only be in the room for abot 6 hours max. The stench of body odour as I walked into the hotel was unwelcome and gave an impression that the place was not clean. (The hotel cleanliness actually was satisfactory). The room was very small but I was made aware of this from the outset on the booking and was actually quite impressed in how they had managed to fit everything in. Water for the shower was hot and plentiful. Breakfast is basic and served by a friendly person who was remarkably able to convey the menu without the use of any consonants.The hotel is handily located but is for a budget traveller or someone like myself needing a basic B&B to sleep for one night. A smile on departure might be a good idea from the girl behind reception.

Reception staff were offhand and barely spoke. Lifts did not connect directly with most rooms -1/2 flight stairs Room - bed linen not ironed and carpet badly stained. Kettle situated directly under TV - dangerous. Bathroom - shower cubicle had a permanent puddle in one corner, soap dish badly chipped, toilet seat loose. Breakfast, although willing service, food could barely comply to its description. English consisted of 2 bacon, 1 poor quality sausage, egg, 1/2 tomato and 2 toast. Continental - cereal and 2 toast. Neither offered fruit juice, and when requested was warm and of poor quality. table not clean.
