The hotel was in a lovely setting however needs a bit of a makeover/ upgrade, the room was tiny and needed a bit of updating. The breakfast food was ok, but we didn't try the dinner, there were lots of lovely venues around, especially in Bowness. The leisure facilities were ok, but again the pool area could do with a refreshing paint. My husband had a massage which he said was wonderful and worth the money. The bar and restaurant areas were the nicest with their lovely views of the gardens. Don't think we would rush back and wouldn't recommend it, very overpriced!! |

Considering this was the 1st time I had used laterooms.com the experience wasn't great! The hotel is nothing like advertised, the pictures are seriously misleading & I certainly wouldn't recommend staying @ The Damson Dene, 3 Star, I wouldnt give it 3 points of a star! It's in the middle of nowhere & is a good 15 minute drive from Bowness which it claims to be in. The hotel itself looked shabby from the outside & the inside was no better, room was tiny & unclean, the paper was coming away from the wall & I have stayed in better Youth Hostels, asked to see another room & this was no better, gave the key back & went to stay elsewhere. Didn't get any apology from staff & was happy to go in search of better accommodation. I would avoid staying there & I will certainly have to look at my options before using laterooms again |

Having looked at the hotel website, this hotel looked ideal for a quite weekend break away from the kids - the rooms looked spacious, availability of a 4-poster with a jacuzzi bath: ideal. However, when we arrived at the hotel, the room was far from as depicted on the website. Yes we had a 4-poster bed, but I don't know how they managed to squeeze it in. The room was absolutely tiny - there was a small jacuzzi bath in the bathroom. We decided not to use the hotel for the evening meal (at £22 each), so went instead to a very nice local pub. Breakfast was OK, but nothing more than you would get at a Travel Inn (no disrespect mean to Travel Inns!) |
