Good location (10 minute walk into Ambleside town), excellent breakfast and very helpful and courteous staff. Room was okay, but nothing special considering the price. Parking was limited (i.e no official parking spaces left we we arrived and I just had to park up against a wall and hope I wasn't blocking anyone in) and you need to be very careful manouvering around the car park as it is tight. It's a very nice place, but over priced at £270 for a 2 night stay and that's the only reason why we wouldn't stay again. |

Lake House is a perfectly fine place to stay - very clean, good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff - but I guess we were paying for the view of the lake. We thought it was a little expensive at £155 per night - top end hotel prices for what is really a very good B&B. |

We stayed at the Hideaway Cottage which was separate from the hotel. This was a last minute booking and we had a whole house to ourselves for the night. It can obviously accommodate more people as some of the bedrooms were locked. Fantastic value for money as we had a big bedroom, bathroom, modern kitchen, dining room and lounge all included in the price. We are definitely visiting again and will look to book the accommodation for a short break rather than just the one night. The only negative is there is no real kitchen facilities on site so if you take breakfast at the hotel it is literally continental or scrambled egg etc cooked in a microwave and kept warm on a hot plate.....however with the hideaway cottage option this wouldn't be an issue as don't include the breakfast as the kitchen has all the facilities to enable you to go out and buy the ingredients and cook your own. |
