There was a wedding on the Saturday night and we were lucky not to hear it, another vistor was complaining when I was checking out. It might just be worth checking you aren't over the disco or in one of the self contained units in the grounds if there is one during your stay. The staff are lovely, the hotel is clean and I would recommend you pay a little more and eat in the hotel, the pub food next door isn't great and is bad value. |

Already I knew the hotel's location, but there should be no difficulty finding it since it is the only hotel approximately half way along the main road between Lyndhurst and Beaulieu at Beaulieu Road Station. It is ideal for anyone wanting a quiet New Forest location. Our only criticisms are trivial. For example, the piped music in the dining room was a little obtrusive and not to everyone's taste! Also, the young waiting staff could be a bit more 'polished', particularly the young man who has not been taught that when laying a table you do not handle eating implements at the business end! Otherwise, everyone was pleasant, helpful, polite, and efficient. The food was of very good quality, though hungry people might want to trade some quality for greater quantity. But the pub adjoining (apparently a different business) satisfies that need for dinner and gives variety, along with Ringwood real ale. The only significant problem was not of the hotel's making. Walls are thin, and an unthinking fellow guest with a loud voice and penchant for singing in the shower was unwelcome company both late at night and early in the morning. But as I say, these are minor gripes. Our only serious reservation is that, by being too complementary, we shall find it harder to book a room next time we want to stay in this excellent little hotel in such a beautiful location. (Be sure to cross the road to the pine copse opposite the hotel on a warm day, basking in the blackberry and apple pie scent of the trees.) Hope to see you there! |

Very considerate and obliging staff. Excellent bed and a good night's sleep. Breakfast was the weakest part of the stay, would have preferred fresh coffee and in a cafetiere, and the service was "lacklustre" and inattentive, but did enjoy fresh grapefruit. Corridors up to the second floor were a maze, and I felt there was a lack of "fire exit" signs. Overall, a good place to stay. |
