The owner of this B&B was extremely friendly and very helpful. Nothing was to much trouble for her I would recomend if you have young children, not many people like young children or babies in their establishment but this is definately not the case in this instance. She really put herself out for us and even offered to prepare special baby breakfast for us, and offered to make the bottles up for the baby. |

The directions provided were not clear, the hotel was not signposted nor was the hotel car park. Customer service was poor in that the proprietor/receptionist was unsure of our arrival and did little to inspire confidence of the quality of the hotel. This hotel was misrepresented in the advertisment as there was little evidence of 4* quality. The room was advertised as a stylish room which turned out to be a room with musty pillows, chipped bath, towel rail which fell off the wall,no shower facilities and kettle plugged into a 5ft extension lead which was partially stuck in the top drawer of a cabinet constituting to a possible fire hazard. the breakfast was uncooked in that the eggs were raw,the bacon may have had a slight introduction to the frying pan and the sausages were raw on one side and burnt on the other, the coffee was cold and was only supplied one cup at a time on request. Overall the breakfast was a hot bed of salmonella. The owners of these premises are obviously inexperienced in the operation of bed and breakfast and I would suggest a visit from food hygiene operatives would not go amiss. Overall this premises was poor value for money and at £75 for one night was nothing short of an absolute disgrace. I certainly would not recommend Chombeys to anybody and feel that the overall presentation needs to be rethought. My star rating 1 and if I could think of a way to receive a refund I certainly would. Anyone staying in York area should try a Premier Travel Inn at £50 per night and £7.50 for breakfast at least that way if you are not satisfied they give you a 100% refund. |

Lady of the house very welcoming and friendly! Always happy to help and gave lots of helpful info about the local area. Not much to say about the man of the house very rude and abrupt. Dont let that put you off though! We would stay here again xx |
