I'm so glad I found this hotel! Although it was very last minute I was amazed to have found such a great hotel with such ease. The interiors were 1st class, along with the service! This was our honeymoon, so we wanted it to be somewhere special, and that is exactly what we got. Thank you again to the owners for providing such amazing food and service. With any luck we will be able to make a reservation for our 1st anniversary!

Snuggled in the lower part of Blockley this is just a gem of a find. Real old world Cotswold charm, well modermised inside. Easy reach for many of the Cotswold villages. Our bedroom was small but was very comfortable, an absolute delight. With only six bedrooms the hotel has a cosy feel and whoever does the cooking knows their stuff. Breakfast had real toast, real marmalade spooned from a proper pot, not a nasty individual plastic tub, and real orange juice. A lovely buffet selection plus some of the best bacon we've had. Only a good cook can scramble eggs properly - mine were scambled properly. Car park a bit tight and awkward to enter but wouldn't consider this an issue. Lovely staff who wanted to please. Altogether highly recommendable.

Lower Brook House is more of a B&B than a hotel. The car park is very small 3/4 cars with a building site next door, the car park has an awkward entrance and is on a dangerous bend so be careful. On being taken to our room I noticed the stairs rails looked like they had been painted with a yard brush and the floors so uneven it was like being at sea. I was already wishing we had made a one night reservation. However, the room was nicely furnished and had an excellent bathroom & shower. The room did have a HD TV but the reception was rubbish, there was not even basic freeview digital. Also, another big minus is that there is absolutely no mobile signal, so communication is having to use their landline.
We had Dinner on the first night, but were very disappointed for a number of reasons. The homemade pea & watercress soup was bland and was so hot it must have come straight from the microwave, my wife decided against anything from the main courses on the menu so just had a small portion of vegetables and some new potatoes. I had the lamb which I managed to separate some lean from the mas of fat. We both had the chocolate chip dessert in an effort to satisfy our hunger but again a major disappointment, it seemed so hard I can only guess it had been left in a freezer for a couple of months. With a bottle of the house red this mediocre dinner or part of a dinner came out at £40-00 per head, maybe we were just really unlucky. But If their chef or cook was having an on off day, then mine host Julian figured it to be okay to charge full price for half a mediocre meal. The following two nights we ate in the pub just up the road where they had more on menu and food was far less pretentious but far tastier.
