    Venice is a fantastic city and hotels are expensive, the Mercantie however with a 3* star rating does not achieve an acceptable level of either comfort or value for money. The AC had been switched off on Oct 1st, there was no Satellite T V as advertsied (this was not a problem but why list it!). The rooms are small and seperated with a very thin (I mean thin) stud partition.
    The location of the hotel is great but it is a decent B&B and not a 3* hotel. I would recommend Venice as a must do sort of place but would shop around a bit more for accomodation - a self catered appartment is a possible option with loads of food markets within easy access and more freedom to come and go.

    This was an absolutely quaint, charming little hotel. Very close to the railway and the water taxi... easy access to everywhere. Employees very helpful!!
