Excellent ,friendly hotel

Excellent hotel, really nice and clean room with en-suite. Felt very welcome by the owner, nice and friendly man. Breakfast was lovely in a nice room. Location of the hotel was ideal for the shops and the restaurants too. Will definitely go back again next time we are in Harrogate.

The Alvera Court Hotel is directly across the road from the Convention Centre and about 5 minutes walk from town. The full English breakfast is first rate, served promptly. I have an issue with the use of the term ‘superior’. What a hotel inspector’s check-list might deem ‘superior’ is not necessarily the average guest’s understanding. Room 7 this weekend was up 4 flights of stairs and certainly clean and comfortable but the en-suite bathroom is definitely not superior. It is tiny (actually measuring 42” x 78”) so has no bath, and entry to the shower cubicle is via a 14” gap. Those who happen to be well-rounded would not get into the shower, nor be able to sit on the toilet, there being only 4” between the toilet seat and the wall. You also need to take care not to bang your head as the angle of the roof severely restricts headroom above the toilet.

Excellent hotel, centrally situated and handy forshops, restaurants, etc. Service very good, met by hotel manager who was friendly and helpful, giving us lots of advice about the area. Our twin room was nice and comfortable, plenty of tea, coffee, towels. and decent beds! The en suite was quite narrow but served it's purpose and was nipping clean. Not a great many satellite tv channels available, but we didn't really watch tv anyway. Breakfast was excellent, food very good and we were served promptly. Can't comment on family facilities as we didn't need them. Not a good hotel for the disabled but for people looking for a comfortable, friendly stay I'd definitely recomment it.
