Best Western Links Hotel

Mid Links, Montrose

Set on the Historic Mid Links, the Links is a lovely hotel dating back to 1875. It has a central location close to the town centre and is within walking distance of the 5th Oldest Golf Course in the world and Montrose Beach with three miles of golden sand. This former Edwardian townhouse is an excellent choice for private guests, smaller groups and families. It offers 25 quality and individual designed bedrooms. The food and service is highly commended and for more informal eating, the Dutch “Koffiehuis” will delight you with an exciting mix of Scottish and Continental cuisine. For events, the hotels conference facilities feature three versatile suites of varying sizes. The main room, the Fairways Suite combined can comfortably accommodate as little as 26 and up to 360 people and on the first floor the hotel offers the very distinguished Drawing Room, part of the original townhouse. All in all, The Best Western Links offers excellent facilities together with excellent hospitality ensuring you a refreshing and relaxing stay.

Pleasant, proffessional staff, room was spacious & comfortable.
Lack of in house facilities (e.g. limited TV channels, gym) was the only down side.

An impressive place! And the breakfast was excellent too!! I booked two single rooms, one for me and one for my elderly father. During check-in, it was noticed the two rooms reserved were far apart in the hotel. The receptionist made an immediate change to the reservation and was able to get us on the same floor, only a few doors apart. Now for the good part! While my father's room was indeed a single room, my room opened from the main hallway into another hallway. At the end of the hallway, my room opened up to a very large room with views from two different sides! The room contained a desk with a desk chair, two single soft living chairs and table, a dresser with a television, and a king-sized bed (two singles tied together). The bathroom was large and contained all the little amenities one could use. And the best part was that I was charged the same amount for my room as my father's! The only negative I can say about the hotel is there was some stains on the carpet in the room, but you quickly overlook those when you step into a fine place such as the Links! The customer service was rated a little lower. I immediately told the receptionist that we were visiting family in the local area during our check-in. When they arrived at the hotel to meet us, the receptionist called my room which was expected. When I asked her to send them up to my room, there was a long hesitation and then a rather sharp remark and a hangup of the phone. They did come to my room, but with the reluctance of the receptionist. We all went out to eat dinner around 6:45PM. When we returned at approximately 10:30PM, one of my family wished to use the bathroom so I invited them to use my room. I was given a rather funny look by the receptionist who immediately told my family that they could use the bathroom in the hotel bar. My family was not made welcome. So I rated the customer service lower than everything else. But overall, it was a great place to stay!
