Whatever you do do not stay in room 430. It is right by the lift shaft of a very old service lift and I hardly got any sleep for all the 4 nights with the constant loud banging upon leaving and landing and the creaking in between. This is my main gripe, and my other comments below fade into insignificance compared to this. I asked for a change of room and they told me they couldn't because they were full. Also, supposedly there has been a refurbishment programme since 2007. This obviously has been a very slow programme as it hadn't touched my room which looked like it hadn't been touched for 50 years - very old fashioned and in garish colours and flowers etc. I also noticed the sheets had stains on them but tried not to look to closely. Even the communal corridors on my floor looked and smelt like an old peoples home. As for the shower, which was a pipe from the tap affair, it was a pathetic dripping type rather than anything nearing a power shower. Breakfast was fast, plentiful and tasty and staff were friendly although most did not speak English too well and I had to repeat things several times. As for the bar, it had no music (even in the background) in the night I went in and just the TV blasting out which led to a very stifled atmoshpere. Don't think of getting any food because they stop serving food at 8:30pm would you believe it and there's nowhere in the immediate vicinity to get food so I had to send my partner out to get something. I paid £85 per night. Supposedly this was a discount from the regular price of £170. There was no way in a million years you would ever pay £170 for this room. I thought £85 was too expensive. I stay in a lot of hotels and have stayed in other hotels in Bournemouth for less that were a lot nicer. Having said all this, a collegue of mine stayed in a different room on the same floor and he said he couldnt hear the lift from his room (which I guess was because he was on the opposite side of the hotel and not right next to it) and he also said his room was OK...I can only speak for myself. If you are using this as a base to go to the conference centre, please also note that although it is only 1 kilometre away, there is a huge steep hill to climb in either direction. The 15 minute walk claim is only true if you walk VERY briskly. |

The Queens is a middle of the range hotel that is a bit old fashioned but basically fine. The room was a little tired looking, but clean with a very comfortable bed, plenty of storage, and a nice bathroom. The breakfast was classic British fry-up, and we had no complaints with the service or the food. Not exciting, but not bad at all. |

Was not happy with my room. It was extremely small and I feel I was mislead by the pictures in your website. I stayed in room 211. |

The restaurant was great, however the room was not - nothing short of a good clean would do here. |
