Novotel Excel is located alongside the Royal Victoria Dock 150 meters from the Excel Centre and close to London City Airport and shares the same building as the Ibis Excel. Within a few minutes by road is newly open O2 Arena for its many concerts and special events and also Docklands/Canary Wharf. This area gives access to east London as well as into the City of London itself via the dual carriageway that runs right through the Docklands towards Tower Bridge (Aspen Way, A1261). Built at the end of 2003 this a new generation Novotel offering 257 new Novotel rooms. Perfect for anyone also visiting the ExCel exhibition centre as the hotel faces the West entrance and is just a 100 yards walk across a pedestrian courtyard. The hotel features a spacious restaurant, a bar overlooking Royal Victoria Dock, a fitness room, 12 meeting rooms with a capacity for up to 70 and on site parking. Additionally the Novotel hotel offers a fitness room and facilities for disabled people.

By Tube: Take the Jubilee line.Alight at Canning Town and( follow the signs and take the stairs up) change onto the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). Take the DLR towards Beckton, alight at Custom House for ExCeL, (which is the second station from Canning Town). Turn on your left-hand side or on your right-hand side, follow the signs for ExCeL main entrance where you will see Novotel London ExCeL on your right-hand side. Reception could not find my booking, it had been put under my first name?
Room was nice apart from some white paint marks on the carpet, toliet is separate from the bathroom and shower which is a pain when you need to wash your hands.
Drinks were expensive at the bar , food was presented well although more vegetarian options would had been good.
Hotel 5 mins walk from Custom House DLR.
A very pleasant time was had.

I stayed here after a conference ran late at ExCel, so it was very convenient. I had stayed at the Ibis the night before and it was pretty horrible, so wanted a step up. For 105 it was okay, but I would never pay full price for this place. The breakfast was good. The bed was comfortable. The toilet being so far from the rest of the bathroom was odd. There was a bit of a funky smell, maybe from the drains. I had a good sit in the sauna. The room was too warm and adjusting the controls seemed to do nothing. The people at the desk were friendly. I had reserved a large room with extra beds (because it was available) but still only got a room with one bed.

Hotel is great for the Excel Centre less than 2-3 mins walk. I had a nice view of the River and Docklands. The thing that let the hotel down was one my shower / bathroom smelt awful :( There was also a minor issue with a very loose electrical socket. I was in a rush and did not get a chance to tell reception. The food from the restaurant was great... so a mixed bag...
