Suprisingly good restuarant, resonable amount of parking - chargable. Excellent link to railway within a matter of 100 mtrs or so direct to amsterdam- saving the hassle & expense parking the car. A lot of redevelopment going on in the immediat aream, which didn't particulaly bother us as such. |

We were pleased with the location, it is literally right next to the train station. The trains to Zaandam run in & out of Amsterdam Central Station run every 10-20mins. We arrived at the hotel around midnight and found the staff to be very welcoming. The bar was due to shut at 12 but the barman (Richard, I think) came through to reception to see if we wanted a drink before he closed up. The room was spotless and plenty big enough. The bedding was lovely & clean and the bathroom was gleaming. There was a full bath & shower with plenty of hot water. There was tea & coffee provided in the room but could have done with more milk & sugar as only enough for one cup each per day, although I'm sure it wouldn't have been a problem if we'd asked for more. The only problem was the noise from outside. The first morning we were woken at 7am by what sounded like the hotel being demolished. Having jumped out of bed to look outside we could then see that there was building work being done over the other side of the road and they were pile driving which was making the hotel shake. This also happened the following two mornings but didn't seem as bad as we knew what was happening. Obviously this is only temporary and no fault of the hotel but we wouldn't stay there again while this work is ongoing, otherwise we wouldn't hesitate to stop here. |
