I chose this hotel for its proximity to Durham and the capacity to accomodate relatives for a family reunion. Parking was good.
The rooms had a small single window which made them stuffy on warm evenings. Traffic noise and the hellish plumbing noises ensured a short sleep every night and to guarentee nobody overslept the crashing of laundry trolleys was thrown in for good measure.
The reception staff were, without exception, very good. I cannot say the same for the catering staff at the weekend. We were told on Sunday evening when we went for a meal at 8.30pm that the kitchen was closed. We were told the following morning
that we should have been able to get a meal. This was completely unacceptable. On Sunday there was no gin available in the bar
and that must be a first in my experience!!

Rooms were clean and well equipped for this level of accommodation with Sat. TV. and more omportantly a decent shower. Bar food very good, representing good value, however restaurant appeared a little expensive. Overall : Would use again, represents good value. Friendly, professional staff. Loads of parking.

lights didn't work. no fan in bathroom, carpets filthy, but otherwise, fine. noisy during the day but fine at night - basically a motel in the american fashion. Don't expect much and you'll be fine.
