Gasthof Groenhove is an oasis of peace within walking distance of the historic centre, that won't leave any visitor indifferent. The hotel is an old, charming villa and has six comfortable rooms with bathroom (some with bath, most with walk-in showers), telephone, mini-bar, safe, wireless internet and TV. The limited number of rooms guarantees a personal welcome and a family atmosphere. The rooms vary in size, and are elegant and romantically furnished. Most of the rooms have lovely large windows overlooking the gardens which surround the hotel. Reception is the large hall of the old house. Spacious, beautiful gardens. Bicycles are available to hire from the hotel (free of charge for our guests). Breakfast is served in the light and airy glass-sided veranda with a view of the hotel's garden or outside in the garden. It is also possible to have breakfast in the room.

U neemt de E40 naar Brugge.U kan Brugge bereiken via afrit 9 (Oostkamp) en dan 7 km via de N 50 tot bij de ringlaan. Net voor de Katelijnepoortbrug slaat U rechtsaf en U volgt de ring tot aan de volgende poort : de GENTPOORT. 20 meter voor de verkeerslichten gaat U rechtsaf. U komt nu in de Generaal Lemanlaan. Vervolgens neemt U de Dhoorestraat. Op het einde van deze straat gaat U linksaf. U bent nu in de Gulden Peerdenstraat. Aan de linkerkant bemerkt U zo dadelijk het hotel.

The only complaint was that the directions given were in Flemish and I needed to get them translated!!!! This was a fantastic place to stay. I stayed one night with my two sons aged 13 and 11. Our room had two huge single beds and a comfortable z bed. It was a loft room with a dormer window that my son thought was fantastic, being able to look out at the sky. The ensuite bathroom had a very powerful shower and a range of complimentary toiletries. It was all spotlessly clean and the bed linens were of a good quality which always makes such a difference. Hans the host had added a couple of nice touches in the room such as an Easter chick ornament and some daffodils as it was Good Friday. There was a fridge with a mini bar but I would have liked tea and coffee facilities in my room but that did not spoil my visit!!! Breakfast was served in the conservatory overlooking the garden. There was a good variety for continental including a bowl of fresh fruit. He had a great selection of teas too! Hans was very helpful and explained clearly how to walk to the main area and what to see. He gave me a card to get discount in the museums and on boat trips which was handy. It took about 15 to 20 minutes to walk into the town. The house is beautiful and very tastefully decorated. I would recommend it thoroughly and would definitely stay there again. Don't be put off by the 20 minute walk, with all the chocolate shops it helps shift a few calories.

Very friendly and helpful owners who gave a warm, personal welcome and service. The hotel is just outside the old city but within walking distance and therefore very convenient as you can leave your car at the hotel and walk (or bus) to town. We had a bit of trouble finding it when arriving as it was night time and very wet; the sign posts in Bruges are small, not always very clear or visible. The instructions provided by the hotel being in Dutch only, I managed to make them out with my knowledge of German! The breakfast was brilliant and the house is lovely. Bruges is quite expensive on the whole; we were happy to pay 77 euros with late rooms but we would have found the normal, full price too expensive.
