I've just returned from a night at the Craiglands Hotel with my wife, and must say it is a fabulous hotel. The outside is grand and picturesque, and the inside is very elegant. Our room was a good size, very clean and with an amazing view over the gardens, with the stunning cow and calf rocks visible in the background. Breakfast was well presented, with a good selection and dinner was delicious. In general I will definatly be returning in the future. Great location, great hotel and very friendly staff. |

Having stayed at the hotel several times I was extremely disappointed with the overall standard on this occasion. There was a large function taking place and I was allocated a first floor room directly over the function room. The level of noise was so great that furniture and items in the room shook! It would have been more sensible to allocate first floor rooms to people attending the event as they would not have been disturbed until 1.30 am! The cleanliness of the room left much to be desired - dirty bathroom floor (lots of hair from previous guests evident!); the shelving and other surfaces were dusty giving the impression that this room was not often used. There was a fire escape immediately outside the bedroom windows which meant as a lone female visitor it was unsafe to leave a window open overnight. Breakfast on Saturday morning was not as efficient as usual as 'ordinary' guests had to take bathroom in a section of the function room with service extremely slow - the main dining areas were set out with large tables obviously for function guests. Overall very disappointing stay on this occasion, especially as front of house staff were extremely indifferent in their attitude. |
