I can never fault Handpicked Hotels. They made a mistake with our booking, we booked a superior room but they had none left. They compensated with a complimentary dinner. Hotel room, grounds, location, service and food excellent.

Great location on a beautiful part of the Trent. You wouldn't know you are so close to the East Midlands airport. Very stylish decor. Bottle of wine promised on arrival never appeared, but the staff were very apologetic and gave me one to take home. Room needed some tlc. 3 bathroom fittings were loose. My advice would be to book this hotel if you are guaranteed a room in the main building, but avoid the cottages. They were pretty neglected. The stairs to them needed a good clean and the windows were filthy. Piped music at breakfast was unwelcome. All this would be easy to remedy and it would then be a great hotel.

The hotel was excellent, but because we had used it prior to an event at Donnington Park the price had been increased so was a tad expensive.
A glass of wine in the bar was £9.50 so slighly over-priced!
Our room rate included Dinner which was superb and the young lady restauarant manager was very efficient and friendly, couldn't do enough for us.
Overall a very nice stay and we would go there again.
