Macdonald Loch Rannoch Hotel & Resort

Kinloch Rannoch, Loch Rannoch

The dramatic scenery around Loch Rannoch, plus the endless array of outdoor pursuits, will surely provide fond memories. Marvel at the rugged mountains, enormous lochs, winding rivers and thick woodlands as you drive to local distilleries, castles, craft centres and famous historic sites. Hidden away amid 250 acres of breathtaking Perthshire countryside Loch Rannoch Hotel and Resort is an enduring testament to the charms of highland living, with its comfortable lounges, sumptuous bedrooms and stunning views. For those who prefer something with a little more oomph, our water sports marina and indoor leisure centre will certainly get the adrenaline going. So whether you prefer lazy days or sporty ways. You're free to do as you please. Try the elegant Ptarmigan Restaurant for some of the area?s most outstanding food and wine. The freshest of local produce (perhaps Tay salmon or Perthshire lamb) is shaped into imaginative dishes by award-winning chefs. Take your time inspecting the lengthy wine list ? on which new and old worlds are both well represented ? to find the bottle that will match your meal precisely. The Schiehallion Bar offers a less ambitious menu, yet certainly fills and satisfies. Slip into its less formal ambience during the day or the evening. Please note on Friday & Saturday evenings we operate a smart dress code (no jeans or trainers) in the Ptarmigan Restaurant.

Hotel was great but lacked atmosphere in the evenings.
I marked the food low as we were B&B and the dinner in the restaurant was priced at £25.50 for two courses, no a la carte available, AND steak was a £7 supplement on top !!!
There are no restaurants in the village so only other option was bar food in the hotel, this was reasonably priced and very nice, but you are still sitting in a bar. I don't mind paying £25 and upwards for a meal but flet that this was just a bit of a rip off. The pricing is probabaly there to make guests who book half board think they are getting a bargain. Breakfast was exellent.

An excellent hotel. Highlights were the food in the Ptarmigan restaurant and the excellent service from all staff.

The hotel is a long and slow trek from Pitlochry but the area is worth it and there are some good walks nearby. The breakfast was excellent: I have rarely had better. The dinner was good. The decorations are poor and the place needs a bit of an uplift. The staff were all brilliant: courteous, helpful and pleasant to deal with. (I told them so.) But, at £130 B&B for two people, this was expensive. I think we could have found something nearby for half that price. But they probably would not have had a leisure centre (pool, steam room, sauna, fitness room) which we used.

very comfortable hotel with exceptionally helpful staff and excellent food. Magnificent setting for a very restful break but easy access for touring.

Another super Macdonald hotel. Parts of the hotel are beginning to look a little tired but everything is clean with all of the facilities you could wish for in a hotel.
