Burnhow is the place to relax and unwind. Those who enjoy the fresh country air can meander along picturesque woodland trails through unspoilt countryside. Enjoy a cruise on Lake Windermere, or venture further afield and take the ferry across the Lake to visit Hill Top, the home of Beatrix Potter. Located on the Hillside above the lake in secluded gardens, the hotel is a peaceful and tranquil oasis but just minutes walk away from the shops, restaurants and harbour of Bowness.
Relax in the comfort of your room choosing from modern chalet style to four poster or traditional bedrooms. Most have private sun terraces. All have ensuite bathrooms, colour televisions, telephones and hot beverages. Rooms on the ground floor have direct access to the rose garden and patio, with some having disabled facilities. Breakfast was fabulous, but having to fill in a form to advise them that you would be having breakfast in the dining room seems unneccesary. The hotel was very clean and room was of a reasonable standard. The bar facilities are very limited, more like a cocktail bar for dining customers. £110 seemed expensive for bed and breakfast, probably why it wasn't very busy!

Food was outstandingly good. Cooked to perfection, inventive and just the right amount. Good wine list. Very friendly and well drilled young summer staff - they seemed happy, and that helps us to be happy. A definite oasis in the middle of a very busy tourist town.
