The Woodlands

New Road, Windermere

A handsome Edwardian villa located on the peaceful side of the village. The 15 newly refurbished guest rooms with brand new en-suite shower rooms and White Company toiletries, include a choice of doubles and twin rooms, with two of them located on the ground floor. All rooms are well equipped with 19" flat screen Toshiba televisions, radio alarm clocks, hairdryer and complimentary tea/coffee making facilities. Three of the rooms have King Size 4-poster beds and three of the rooms have super king size beds, if you really want to impress, flowers and/or champagne can be waiting for you in the room. There's a bar and residents lounge where you can relax with a drink, and breakfast is served in the light and airy dining room with its large windows overlooking the garden. Woodlands is open all year round and special midweek breaks are available. There's ample off road parking and credit cards are accepted.

By Road From junctions 36 of the M6, follow the A590, past Kendal to where it joins the A591 to Windermere. At Windermere follow directions to Bowness along the A5074. The Woodlands Hotel is on the left hand side of the road half a mile before the police station.. By Rail The nearest West Coast Main-line station is Oxenholme-The Lake District from where you can travel direct to Windermere. I am happy to collect you from the station if required.

The hotel was lovely. The full English Breakfast was good however I would have liked to have seen a wider selection for those who did not have the full breakfast. Whilst there was an abundance of cereals I would have like to have seen a small selection fo morning scones, pastries rather than the heavy muffins. The room was lovely although the pillows were too soft but that may be more to do with persoanl taste.
Staff were lovley and very helpfully especailly by directing us to local places to for meals.

Hotel was good and clean and had been refurbished and work was still ongoing in the basement. Rooms seemed to lack good sound insulation.

Very freindly staff and management. Breakfast was good. Unfortunately the quality of the furniture in the room was a bit tired. If this was updated the hotel would be great. Having said that, it was good value and well situated for Windermere and Bowness so youcould walk to either for dinner in the evening.

We were given a choice of three rooms on arrival and chose one at the back which was nice and quiet.
Very friendly and welcoming staff who were willing' to go the extra mile 'in providing fresh milk for tea and coffee, offering to go out and buy safety pins to do emergency running repairs to an outfit for a special event we were attending,and keeping some cheese we'd bought in the frig.
Service at breakfast was efficient with a personal and friendly touch. and a range of choices within the set menu.
