This hotel is absolutely beautiful from the outside and the restaurant was amazing. The room was old fashioned in more ways than 1. The bathroom was modern however the outdated TV with no on/off button as a previous guest had broken it was a pain. You could not see it from the bed, there was minimal channels of good quality picture. The room is very out of date.
Myself and my sister were attending a wedding and whilst we were in the area a friend who lives close by who we had not seen for 4 years came to visit with her 2 children, 1 a 16year old and an 8 year old who were very polite and did not make any noise. The hotel manager was convinced we were trying to smuggle them in for the night. I found this outrageous. The phone rang twice asking us to state what time they were leaving and we were told they had to be out as the porter was locking the door. The porter knocked on the door 10 mins befor ethe time and asked them to leave. This is absolutely unacceptable and we were made to feel like children. It definitely ruined our stay and we will not be returning.

My 9 year old daughter and I were very happy here. Staff were very friendly and the room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The decor of the room was a little tired, in need of a bit of a revamp (especially toilet seat) but very clean and beds very comfortable. Only 20 minutes from Chester Zoo and made a great overnight break.

When we went to bar nobody serving, behind bar untidy glasswasher needing good clean,
after ordering meal, chef came out to say fillet steaks small, so will reduce price,
this not done when paying account, drinks at bar charged twice, total shambels.

I booked this hotel as a few days break for me and my boyfriend as part of a anniversary treat, with us both being in the hotel/catering industry it was nice to be on the other side of things.
The reception staff were exceptional and met our every need from answering any quieries to printing of directions for us to certain destinations.
I did on the other hand find one member of the waiting on/bar staff a little rude as he insisted on banging doors and seemed pretty misrible whilst waiting on our table, not what you expect first thing in the morning, being frount of house myself i know you have to smile what ever your mood and politeness is essential!!!we also had the unfortunate task of getting up at 2am as the fire alarm was going off, fair enough;but we were not given a clear explanation as to what had happend?
Other than that the setting was gorgeous and me and my other half enjoyed a lovely day out at chester zoo just 20 minutes away.
Perfect for a few days rest
