Breakfast was the worst I have experienced in a long time.
Not the staffs fault who appeared let down by lack of any management, but it was grim!
Otherwise room was ok for price , travel lodge being other obvious competitor; A centrally located hotel with its best years behind it though.

Staff were very polite and breakfast was very good. However carpeting throughout hotel appeared dirty. Room was reasonable although there were holes in bedcover and no plug in bathroom.

This was a very last minute booking - desparation because we had just heard of the birth of our first grandson in Guildford Maternity and we had to travel 440 miles from Scotland.
The hotel is centrally situated at a great late minute price, but the hotel does not particularly have a very welcoming reception or staff. The stairs up to the room had my nose turned up, really old fashioned carpeting and walls could do with a lick of paint. The room itself was a good size and the sheets on the bed were clean.
We had Room 49 and this seemed to be right beside the hot water tank, which had a knocking noise at certain times during the night!!!!
