London Elizabeth Hotel

Hotel is in need of a decoration upgrade and clearly has seen better days but having said that it did have an air of quaintness from a bygone era. Very good location, although was difficult to find at first.

I stayed overnight with my partner in the montegu suite, i paid £130 through laterooms, i thought this was quite cheap for a london hotel. This hotel has car parking at the rear at £10 a day which i thought was excellent as NCP is £35. The hotel is 100 yards away from the tube station which is ideal.
The suite was lovely and clean, nice comfortable bed the only problem was that there was no kettle in the room and i was in the basement and had a nice view of the fire escape and nothing else, the breakfast you have to pay extra for if you want a full english which i thought was bad, the radio had no reception from the basement. But overall i thought it as ideal for a one night stay as i wasnt in it much.

Hotel is perfectly situated next door to Lancaster Gate tube and with bus links at the fronnt door. It's an attractive Victorian property which retains much of it's original charm both inside nad out. My colleague had a room on the 2nd floor which was large, clean and comfortable, fixtures and fittings were in good order but the decor a little "chintzy". My room was on the top floor, smaller and accessed via a pretty rickety staircase (added some character though). Again the decor was VERY feminine for most peoples tastes but the room clean and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was clean but in need of a little maintenance (the shower cubicle doors didn't work properly) but the biggest problem was water! In the evening when the hotel was quiet there was no problem but in the morning (when everyone is showering) I had no water pressure at all, which meant cold water from the tap and nothing more than a drizzle from the shower head.
The staff at the Elizabeth are a breath of fresh air - especially for London, friendly and courteous and I'm sure I even detected some genuine smiles! Unbelievable in our capital!

Frommer's Portable London listed the London Elizabeth as "expensive" but since it was in the area we wanted to stay I went ahead and tried to book through you. Would you believe your rate made an expensive hotel very affordable for us? Also when we checked in we had been upgraded to a suite so we had an even nicer room. I would definitely use your service to book my next hotel in England.
The staff was unbelievably accommodating and helped us out several times on routes and the most economical transport.
The only suggestion I have would be to put a water kettle in each room; we didn't need an ice machine but sure would like a cup of coffee in the evening and early morning.
