Cheriton House

Lovely award winning Victorian house with large garden just 150 yards from the river in the historic and picturesque village of Houghton, 2 miles from St. Ives (pretty riverside town) and Huntingdon (historic market town) and just 20/25 minutes from Cambridge.3 of our rooms overlook the garden. All en suite,with bath and power showers, very comfortable individually coil sprung beds, teletext tv,CD/DVD players,trouserpress,hairdryer,hospitality tray,in room safe etc.etc.,and lots of useful extras ,Outstanding a la carte breakfast menu included in room rates.Home made fruit cakes/breads/jams/ marmalades etc. Free range eggs,hand made sausages ,locally sourced food wherever possible .Opened in 2003 and awarded 5 stars with a silver quality award by Visit Britain -One of very few Bed and Breakfasts in Cambridgeshire with 5 stars ,silver.Also a `highly commended ` regional finalist in Excellence in England awards .
An excellent centre for business or as a base for the leisure visitor to Cambridge,Ely, Stamford,Burleigh House,Althorp House,the Imperial War Museum at Duxford (approx 20/25 minutes) ,the American Cemetry,Buckden Towers,Cromwell Museum etc. Now with WIFI internet access for your added convenience at no extra charge.
Borrow a bicycle to explore the area or enjoy over 26 miles of signposted walks on the Ouse Valley Way that runs through the village.One day coarse fishing licences available.
Walks by the river in the summer or, in the winter, walk or a short drive to several country pubs with roaring log fires and good food or we can recommend several restaurants within about 10 minutes drive.

A picture on the web of the approach to the drive way would be useful since you can easily drive past and miss it! A great place to stay and made to fell most welcome, would stay here again without question. The local pub is 5 mins walk and does great food on the evening so everything is covered.

A lovely high quality B&B in a small picturesque village. Houghton mill next door and the local waterways within 500 yards. 2 pubs in the village. Town of St Ives less than 2 mile away. The host at the hotel was very helpful and couldnt do enough to help/advise on the local tourist hotspots. Fantastic breakfast good clean room and would reccomend to anyone who wanted a nice weekend away.

We booked this b & b as it was near to Houghton Mill (in fact it is almost next door!) and had excellent reviews. We were not disappointed - welcome and accommodation could not be faulted.
Don't eat too much the night before. The full cooked breakfast really is BIG and will set you up for the day. The toast is made using flour from Houghton Mill and really is good.
This is an excellent base for visiting the area.
