Alexandra Hotel

Staff very friendly, Food very good. Rooms very clean but they do have sqeaky floorboards.

Convenient location very close to station and town centre facilities. Nice views, either of the mountains or the loch. I thought it was good value for a 3* hotel. Efficient and straightforward checking in and out, a well organised dining room (I only had the breakfasts) and a nice large room with a comfortable bed, good en-suite bathroom and plenty of storage space. I have stayed in some real holes in the past for more money per night than this!

The only complaint I would have with this hotel is that they did not have an adequate wireless internet service. Some days it would work and some days it would not. The signal strength was always low or non-existant and made connection impossible most times. The only place that it could be accessed was in the lobby when it was working. There were several times I had to ask the front reception to reset the router. Sometimes this worked and sometimes it did not.
In todays' information-age, and being a larger competing hotel in the area, it would be beneficial for this hotel to invest in a working wireless technology as the younger generation of customer demands it. Even if they charged a little for it to offset costs. Keeping in touch with others is the key these days and when someone, like myself, is outside his home country, an Internet source is a huge benefit.
As a result of not having a reliable Internet source at the hotel, I went to other businesses in the area and spent money there. I could have easily spent the money at the hotel.
In the end my stay was very good to excellent. I would stay at the Alexandra Hotel again when in Fort William, but consider another venue if they do not have Internet access.
