White Swan Hotel

16 Bondgate Within, Alnwick (nr Newcastle)

Situated in the heart of the historic town of Alnwick, this charming 300 year old coaching inn retains many authentic period features that make it as popular today as it ever was. The White Swan has recently undergone a £3/4 million refurbishment, with all the bedrooms fully modernised to an impeccable standard, producing a range of Classic Standard, Classic Superior and Classic Suite rooms with LCD TVs and DVD players. The public areas have been totally transformed and the introduction of the brand new Hardy’s Bistro, offering everything from a latte to contemporary cuisine, the hotel offers a superb setting whether you’re visiting for a relaxing break or a corporate event.
Oozing character and steeped in history the White Swan offers a unique insight in to life in years gone by subtly combining traditional features with modern life. For example, the ever popular Olympic Suite with its original oak panelling, mirrors, ceiling and stained glass windows, salvaged from the SS Olympic, sister ship of the ill fated Titanic, is a favourite amongst diners who enjoy first class 21st century cuisine in its luxurious surroundings. The Olympic Suite has recently been restored to it’s immaculate best offering a little bit of maritime history to your dining experience.
A brand new conference/meeting room and residents lounge will add to the fantastic facilities already available at The White Swan.
With 57 handsomely furnished en-suite bedrooms, The White Swan has its own distinctive charm. The friendly and professional service offered to all, whatever the occasion for their visit, ensures that each guest is given a truly inimitable hotel experience.
Just around the corner from the hotel are the entrances to both Alnwick Castle and the Alnwick Garden which now features one of the largest treehouese in the world. Join us for a range of speciality breaks including Titanic, Murder Mystery, and Golf. Contact us now for details of our special spring breaks, summer and autumn breaks.

Great location in an historic coaching house which has been tastefully re-furbished with open fireplace in comfy lounges. Staff (Gary in particular) were very helpful and polite. Overall though this was a great place to stay.

Booked a double and was given a twin - room not fully prepared - no towels. The hotel did rectify this, after we asked and offered complimentary drink. No parking was available and we had to pay at local car park both on the day of stay and the next morning- requiring me to top the meter up at 8 am Sunday morning.

Breakfast was poor with only minimum amounts served of milk. Toas etc. Tpast clearly been mass produced and just waiting to be served. Attention to detail in Hardy`s Bistro could have been better...eg dishes missed and staff not really paying heed to what was wanted and then giving us a double portion of chips as well as mashed potato. We went elsewhere on the 2nd evening for a far bettre meal and service.

I have used this hotel a number of occasions and since the recent refurbishments I find it to be very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and the food is of a good standard. I would use it again and have recommended other colleagues to use it, and they have.
