I found the staff very helpful and most had a good grasp of the English language. The reception provides tour booking services, money exchange and baggage storage services. They do struggle when more than four people arrive at reception with requests but I think this is due to language differences and the need to teach trainee staff. They also offer a late check out up to 2pm free of charge.
They were especially helpful when it came to booking tours. All tour companies collected hotel guests from Pyramida and you are usually the first to be picked up so you can get a good seat on the tour bus. There is a tram stop right out the front of the hotel and a tram ticket machine near the front entrance of the hotel. The trams (no's 22 & 23) take you direct to Prague Castle, St Nicholas Church and then into the Old Town. They run every 10 mins and are a convenient way to get around Prague. The hotel even sell international stamps for your postcards and they have a mail box in the hotel foyer.
The buffet breakfast provides for all types of tastes but can get crowded between 8-9 am. I didn't eat at the restaurant but ordered room service (this is off the same restaurant menu) and the meal was tasty and was a generous portion.
My room was cleaned daily including a change of towels. Rooms have a bar fridge but this is controlled by key access; a safe for securing valuables and the TV has two English speaking stations (CNN & BBC), a music station and you can pay as you go for movies (the selection is limited however).
It can get noisy as the hotel is near a main road but the windows are double glazed and tend to shut out most of the noise. After the first night I didn't notice the traffic noise. I didn't have air conditioning in my room but I was lucky with the weather. I think it would be uncomfortable if temperatures were in the high 30's (celcius).
It is close to the Strahov Monastery (5 min walk), Prague Castle (15 walk) and Charles Bridge (25 min walk). So if you enjoy walking you can easily get to these locations on foot. The neighbourhood is safe to walk around at night and there is a small grocery shop 50m up from the hotel where you can get bottled water and toiletries at a reasonable price. The Italian restaurant across the road from the grocery store makes good pizza and offers take away.
I would definitely stay here again and have recommended it to a few people at work.

Obviously built during the communist era, this hotel, despite its extensive remodeling, retains some of the old atmosphere ... location is good.

hotel a little further from centre of prague than we thought when booking but did not present my husband and i any problems as the tram service which stopped outside hotel was cheap and frequent.the restaurant koppernik was ace with very friendly &efficient staff serving excellent food at reasonable prices. all other staff we came into contact with where most attentative & helpful.the hotel pyramida even acknowledged my husbands birthday with a bottle of champagne without any prompts.only booked a short break but would have liked to stay longer. hotel worthy of recommendations.
