Really enjoyed the classy but not stuffy atmosphere of the hotel. The staff were excellent and we were made to feel very welcome. Will definitely go again even if just to sample the food at the excellent restaurant.

We stayed for one night for our wedding anniversary. The hotel is amazing, in a beautiful setting and stunning throughout.
Our room was large and sumptuous and the bathroom was huge with a double bath and walk in shower. Unfortunately, when I ran a bath at 5.00pm the water was only look warm, not hot. I rang down to reception and was told somebody would be sent straight up but by 8pm nobody had arrived and we were due to dinner.
Returning to the room after dinne there was no heating! We rang reception and the duty manager came immediately. He was very apologetic and did all he could but we still had no heating and no hot water. He gave us a tiny one bar electric heater which didn't improve the situation at all so it was a cold night with no bath - such a shame as it could have been fantastic.
In the morning, the hotel manager came to see us and explained some money had been taken off the bill but when we went to pay they had deducted a measly amount and we both felt very disappointed. I certainly wouldn't recommend this hotel.

This was possibly the best UK hotel that we have stayed in. The staff were just wonderful and really made us feel like we "mattered". Attention to detail was brilliant. It was a special weekend for us and was made even more special by the general atmosphere and the way that we treated by the hotel staff. I can't really comment on family friendliness as we didn't need it. There was only one child staying while we were there which actually suited us. Facilities were excellent and the setting was just breathtaking! We had a fantastic time and I would love to stay there again.

Like the rich food in the restaurant the stay was enjoyable but would become too much after a time. Great for a luxurious break. Spa good. An expensive place to stay but when you see the place you realise why - the effort required to maintain it must be huge.
