Location location, photographers heaven, the views were fantastic, try the wonderful drive to Bala through Hellfire Pass (the road to Dinas Mawddy) and return in the late afternoon. Incredibel trip. The food was good, you felt they were trying, mostly local and well prepared given the busy v full restaurant on a bank holiday. The room was Ok, nicely upgraded bathroom and we could photograph the famous view from the bedroom window (useful given it was drizzleing and waterry sunset and dinner coincided!. Not the hight of luxury despite the label, and for a sunny weekeend I guess the rooms with balconies would be great. (Did'nt matter in the rain.) |

Unfortunateley we only booked one night at the hotel, we wished we were staying longer. The room though quite pricey had the most spectacular view possible. The bed was the most comfortable we have slept in, sheer heaven. The bathroom had both bath and seperate shower the only fault being the shower was fitted too low. The staff were all very accomodating and friendly, plus they catered for my diet of gluten free meals. |

The dinners were excellent but the breakfasts were a little disappointing - the smoked haddock was dry from being kept hot |

view amazing but it was amazing weather. food excellent and a fair price £33 for 5-course for evening dinner. Made use of local produce. Our room (ten) let it down - asked for country view but got road outside and green hedge screen with out-buildings (floodlit all night) and strong smell of cooking; bathroom was good though. The Tower was good for lunch - homemade pheasant pie. Other country rooms looked nicer and the lake view ones were great but cost extra £20/night. |
